The
Military Affairs Division of the Chamber of Commerce has had a long
tradition of support for the men and women of our armed forces and their
families. We recognize that our military is a valued asset and community
partner contributing on both local and State levels. Since 1941,
the Military Affairs Council has strived to sustain and develop the
diverse military missions throughout the Pikes Peak Region.
The Division also serves as an advocate for the
defense and aerospace industry in our community. These business
sectors represent an important and growing part of our economy.
Together, the military and the businesses that support the military and
its programs, represent a direct and indirect impact of nearly 30-35% on
our region’s economy.
Through programs such as the
Small Business Outreach
Program, the Military Affairs Division provides a conduit
through which large and small businesses can connect. Small businesses
often require support to understand and navigate the complexities of the
government contracting process. Large businesses benefit from
Chamber programs that bring large and small business together.
Greg Mitchell, President of Colorado Technical University (Colorado Springs) tells why being involved in The Chamber's Military Affairs Council is important to his business.
Chamber and community members have numerous
opportunities through the
programs and events of the Military
Affairs Division to further their involvement with, and understanding
of, the military. One organization within the Division is
the Military Affairs Council. The Council
is a separate membership organization of over 250 community members with
a strong sense of the importance of national defense and the military in
our region.
